Voice RecorderNEW
Record from your microphone with a live level meter and download
Checking your access…
AllFreeTool is a free online voice recorder that captures audio from your microphone directly in the browser. You see the elapsed time and a live input level meter while you record, and once you stop you can play the recording back or download it as a WebM file. The audio stays in memory on your own device and is never uploaded to a server.
It suits recording a voice note, capturing a lecture or a meeting for reference, keeping a rehearsal take, or recording a sound for your own use. The level meter is the important part for a first check: it shows at a glance whether the microphone is working, whether you are too quiet, or whether the input is clipping.

Common questions
Where does the recording file go?+
It is kept in the memory of the page, so it is not written to disk and not sent to any server. You play it back from there or download it as a WebM file. Closing the tab discards the recording, so save anything you want to keep.
Why does the level meter stay silent?+
Usually the microphone is muted, either at the hardware level or in your operating system, or another program is holding the input. The tool also reports when no usable device is detected and when the browser does not support the recording API, so the message tells you which of the cases you are in.
What format do I get?+
The recording is captured in the WebM container with the audio codec your browser prefers, and it downloads as a .webm file. This format plays in current browsers, VLC, and most media players, and it can be converted to another format with the audio converter if you need one.
Is my voice sent anywhere?+
No. Recording uses the browser recording API and the file exists only in the page. There is no account, no server call and no stored copy, so you can record a private conversation with no concern about it being intercepted or kept.
