Batch-shrink GIFs with fewer colors, resizing and frame dropping

Completely free

Checking your access…

AllFreeTool's GIF Compressor shrinks animated GIFs in the browser, free and without installing anything or creating an account. Drop one file or several, choose the output longest side, the color count and how many frames to keep, then compress the whole batch with one click. Each result is listed next to its original size with the percentage saved, so you can see which settings pay off before downloading. Adjust and re-run as often as you like; the originals on your disk are never touched.

Compression runs entirely on your device, so the files are never uploaded and no copy is kept anywhere, which makes the tool safe for internal documentation, client assets and anything covered by an NDA. Common reasons to reach for it: a messenger that rejects attachments over 10 MB, a CMS with a strict upload limit, a forum cap on image size, or a landing page where a 12 MB hero animation ruins the load time.

Why use GIF Compressor on AllFreeTool?

📦

Batch Queue

Load several GIFs at once, see original and output size per file with the saving percentage, then download the whole set.

⚡

Three Levers

Resize by longest side, lower the palette, and thin frames by keeping every second or third, plus an optional dither switch.

🔒

Files Never Leave

Every frame is decoded and re-encoded locally, so nothing is uploaded and no temporary copy remains on a server.

🆓

Free With No Cap

No account, no file-count limit, no watermark and no per-file fee, so a whole folder of stickers can go through in one pass.

How to use GIF Compressor

1

Drop Your GIFs

Select one or many animated GIFs; each one appears in the queue with its current size.

2

Pick The Trade-Off

Set the output longest side, colors and frame step, then decide whether dithering is worth the extra bytes.

3

Compress All

Run the batch, compare each result with its original, and download the files you want to keep.

Common questions

Is the GIF compressor free to use?+

Yes, with no account and no upload quota. There is no limit on how many files you run through it, and no watermark or branding is added to the output. Large batches only depend on your device's memory.

Why did the GIF get bigger after compressing?+

Re-encoding rebuilds every frame and its palette, which can add bytes when the source was already well optimized or used frame diffing. Lower the color count, drop every second frame, turn dither off and reduce the longest side. If the result is still larger, the original is close to the practical minimum.

Why did transparency turn into a black or white box?+

A GIF supports a single fully transparent color, with no partial alpha. Edges that were softly blended against the old background become opaque pixels of that palette entry, which often reads as a dark or light fringe. Against a known page background, a background color that matches it looks cleaner than transparency.

Why does the animation look choppy after compressing?+

Frame thinning removes whole frames, so motion that relied on them disappears and the remaining frames stay on screen longer. Keep every frame and lower the palette first; only thin frames when the animation is long and slow, and preview before downloading.
