GIF Speed ChangerNEW
Speed a GIF up or slow it down up to 8x by rescaling each frame delay
Checking your access…
AllFreeTool's GIF Speed Changer speeds an animation up or slows it down by scaling every frame delay, with presets from 0.25x to 8x. It is free, requires no installation and no account: load a GIF, pick a factor, and the file is rewritten with the new timing while the pixels stay exactly as they were. The current duration and frame count are shown before and after, so it is easy to tell how a factor will affect the loop.
The whole edit happens in your browser, so the animation is never uploaded and nothing is stored on a server. It is useful for stretching a short loop into a calm background, compressing a slow screen recording into something watchable, or matching a looping sticker to the beat of a clip. Slowing below 1x keeps every original frame; no frames are invented or dropped, and the minimum delay control stops extreme timing.
Why use GIF Speed Changer on AllFreeTool?
Seven Speed Steps
0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x presets, applied by rescaling each frame's delay rather than re-rendering.
Lossless Rewrite
Only the delay table changes, so palette, pixels and file size stay the same; a minimum delay keeps the result playable.
Delays Rewritten Locally
The file is parsed and rebuilt inside the tab, so nothing is uploaded and no copy is left behind.
Cost-Free And Open
No account, no trial, no watermark: change the speed of as many GIFs as you like.
How to use GIF Speed Changer
Open A GIF
Drop the animation you want to retime; the original duration and frame count are shown as a baseline.
Choose A Factor
Pick a speed from 0.25x to 8x and set the minimum frame duration if very short frames need a floor.
Apply And Download
Press Change speed, check the new total duration, then download the retimed GIF.
Common questions
Is this GIF speed tool free?+
Yes. There is no fee, no account and no limit on how often you use it, and the output has no watermark. The only cost is the second or two your browser needs to rewrite the file.
Why does 8x not look eight times faster?+
Browsers clamp very short frame delays: anything below about 0.02 seconds is usually played as 0.1 seconds, so a fast animation hits a ceiling. That is why the tool exposes a minimum frame duration. Raising it keeps the result predictable, at the price of a lower real speed-up.
Does changing the speed affect quality or file size?+
No. Only the per-frame delay values are rewritten, so the palette, transparency and pixel data are untouched and the file size stays practically identical. Nothing is re-encoded, so no new artifacts appear.
Can I get true slow motion?+
The tool stretches the time each existing frame is shown, so a 0.25x result is the same frames playing four times longer. Fast motion will look steppy because no frames are generated in between. For smooth slow motion, start from a higher frame rate source rather than a short loop.
