GIF Frame ExtractorNEW

Split a GIF into PNG frames, save one by one or download all as a ZIP

Completely free

Checking your access…

AllFreeTool's GIF Frame Extractor splits an animation into PNG images, one per frame, with transparency preserved and every frame composited into a complete picture. It is free, needs no installation and no signup: load a GIF, choose an output size, then save frames one at a time from the thumbnail strip or grab them all as a single ZIP. Files are numbered in playback order, so the sequence is still obvious after unzipping.

Extraction runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded and nothing is stored. Use it to pull a still for a thumbnail without hunting for the source, to grab a sprite or icon out of an animated set, to check exactly which frame shows a glitch, or to edit individual frames and rebuild the animation afterwards. Up to 2000 frames are supported in a single pass, and the frame count and duration are shown before you export.

Common questions

Is the GIF frame extractor free?+

Yes. There is no account, no payment and no watermark, and you can extract frames from as many animations as you like. The only ceiling is the 2000-frame guard, which keeps long files from exhausting memory.

Why do some frames look incomplete?+

GIF frames can store only the pixels that changed and rely on the previous frame, and disposal methods may clear parts of the canvas. The extractor composites the sequence, so each PNG shows what a viewer actually sees at that moment; a frame that looks cut off was genuinely drawn that way in the source.

Why is the ZIP so large?+

PNG is lossless and every frame is a full image, so a 100-frame animation at 800 pixels wide can easily exceed 100 MB uncompressed. Lower the output size, extract only the frames you need, or unzip and convert the stills to JPG for smaller files.

Does each PNG keep the original frame delay?+

No. PNG has no timing field, so delays are lost by design; the frame number in the filename preserves the order instead. If you need the exact delays, read them in the GIF parser, or rebuild the animation from the PNGs in the Image to GIF maker with matching durations.
