Apology Sincerity ScoreNEW
Score how sincere an apology really is and see which words cost points
Checking your access…
AllFreeTool is a free online apology sincerity scorer that rates any apology on a 0-100 scale and shows you exactly which words cost points. Paste the text, click 'Score it', and you get the score, the level, a per-dimension breakdown, and every matching phrase marked up in the original text - hover a mark to read why it was flagged.
The scoring runs on a public signal table. Every apology starts from a base of 55 points: wording that shows an explicit apology, ownership of the mistake, an explanation, empathy, a concrete remedy, a promise to improve, or respect and thanks adds points, while conditional hedging, self-defence, blaming the other side, emotional outbursts, copy-paste boilerplate, and excuses subtract them. Bonuses are capped at +45 and penalties at -45, and several penalties inside one dimension are scaled proportionally first, so a single sentence cannot wipe out the whole score. That is why 'believe it or not, I do believe it' ends up in the failing band.
Sample results: a genuinely sincere apology (owning the mistake, explaining, empathising, already fixing it, promising never again) scores 100 - 'Very sincere'. Hedging with conditions ('if I was wrong... I assumed...') scores 49 - 'Barely acceptable'. Blaming the other side ('if you had told me clearly back then') scores 35 - 'Failing'. Copy-paste boilerplate ('please understand, apologies for any bother') scores 23 - 'Failing'. Defending instead of apologising ('believe it or not, I do believe it') scores 10 - 'Failing'. An emotional outburst ('you are being outrageous') scores 10 - 'Failing'. Click any sample on the tool page to load it and see the sentence-by-sentence markup.

Common questions
How is the score calculated?+
Every apology starts from a base of 55. Positive phrasing adds up to 45 points, negative phrasing takes away up to 45, and the result lands between 0 and 100. Several penalties inside one dimension are scaled proportionally first, so the penalty list always adds up to the penalty shown in the score. Two structural rules apply as well: fewer than 25 characters reads as dismissive and costs 15 points, while 60 characters or more with an apology, an explanation, and a remedy earns extra points.
Why does 'believe it or not, I do believe it' only score 10?+
'Believe it or not' is counted as self-defence and costs 20 points, while 'I do believe it' shifts the talk back to 'me right, you wrong' and costs another 18. The passage contains no apology, no ownership, and no remedy, so nothing is added at all. The base of 55 minus the defence penalty is pushed down to the floor of 10, which is why such sentences end up in the failing band.
Does a high score mean the person really is sorry?+
Not necessarily. The tool judges the wording only; tone, the relationship between you, and what happens afterwards all shape the real effect. Use the score to check that your own words are not saying the opposite of what you mean, rather than to judge a person.
Is my apology text uploaded anywhere?+
No. The whole scoring engine runs inside your browser, so the text is never sent to a server, never logged, and disappears when you close the tab. Chinese and English text are both safe to paste.
