3D Format ConverterNEW
Convert between glTF, GLB, OBJ, STL and PLY without installing anything
Checking your access…
Different pipelines want different 3D formats: web and real-time rendering prefer glTF or GLB, 3D printing almost always means STL, scientific and point-cloud work tends toward PLY, and moving between modelling packages usually goes through OBJ. The AllFreeTool 3D Format Converter moves between glTF, GLB, OBJ, STL and PLY in any combination, with no install and no account.
Conversion works by parsing the source into a scene and re-exporting it, so materials, textures and animations travel as far as the target format allows. That matters because OBJ, STL and PLY are geometry-only formats: material and animation data is dropped on the way out, and the tool says so before you start rather than after you download.
Why use 3D Format Converter on AllFreeTool?
Five Formats
Any pairing of glTF, GLB, OBJ, STL and PLY, with the source format detected automatically.
Keeps What It Can
Exports to glTF and GLB carry materials, textures and animations; geometry-only targets warn you first.
Stats Included
The result panel reports the source triangle and mesh counts so you can judge the target format.
Local Conversion
The whole pipeline runs in your browser, so the model is never uploaded.
How to use 3D Format Converter
Pick a Source Model
Upload a glTF, GLB, OBJ, STL, PLY or 3MF file and the format is detected for you.
Choose a Target Format
Click the format you want. Selecting OBJ, STL or PLY warns that materials and animations are dropped.
Convert and Download
Press Convert, then download the new file, which keeps the source name with a new extension.
Common questions
Why do my materials disappear when I convert to OBJ?+
OBJ predates modern material systems. It defines positions, normals, UVs and face indices, but has no standard way to describe materials or textures; PLY and STL are geometry-only in the same way. Keep both ends of the conversion in glTF or GLB if you need the full appearance preserved.
What exactly is lost when I convert OBJ to STL?+
Materials, textures, UV coordinates and the object hierarchy are all dropped, leaving only triangle geometry. STL also stores triangles only, so any quads in the source are triangulated automatically during export and the result may look very slightly different.
Can I convert a batch of files at once?+
One file per run in the current version, which keeps memory use predictable for large models. For bulk work, convert to a single format first and then hand that to a batch tool.
Why can 3MF be read but not written?+
3MF is the container format used for 3D printing. three.js ships a 3MF reader but no matching exporter, so 3MF works as a source format and not as a conversion target.
