Keyboard TesterNEW
Check every key on your keyboard and highlight the ones you press
Checking your access…
AllFreeTool is a free online keyboard test that shows every key you press as it happens, distinguishes between pressing and releasing, and counts your typing speed in keystrokes per minute alongside the total number of presses. It also shows the state of the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys. Everything happens locally in your browser, so nothing you type is recorded or uploaded.
It helps you check that every key on a keyboard works, that the modifier keys register properly, or that a suspected sticking or dead key is not actually a hardware fault. The live readout of the current key is also a quick way to confirm the layout matches what you expect.

Common questions
How does the test tell a press from a release?+
The page listens for the keyboard down and keyboard up events separately, so the current key panel shows the key while it is held and the pressed keys list records it as it goes down. That distinction is exactly what tells you whether a key is sticking down.
What counts as an accidental press?+
The tool records presses that happen outside the normal typing flow, which usually points to a switch that is not registering cleanly or to a key that bounces when released. A high count on one particular key is a strong hint that that switch needs cleaning or replacing.
Is my keystroke data uploaded?+
No. The test runs entirely in the page and counts presses locally, so nothing you type is transmitted, logged or stored. The statistics reset when you reload the page and no account is involved.
How is the typing speed calculated?+
It counts the presses and divides by the elapsed time to give keystrokes per minute, which is the standard measure for raw typing speed. It reflects your keyboard technique rather than your reading speed, so compare it with the typing test for a fuller picture.
