Common questions

How is the estimated income tax calculated?+

The tool uses a simplified progressive model that mirrors the annual comprehensive income monthly withholding method used in China, with seven brackets and quick deductions. Because it is an estimate, the real figure determined by the tax authority can differ, especially with side income or deductions.

What is the social insurance rate option for?+

It is the personal contribution rate for social insurance and housing fund, and the default reflects a common combined rate. You can raise or lower it to match your own city and employment status, and the tool subtracts the matching amount from your gross pay before tax.

How are the hourly and daily rates worked out?+

The hourly rate divides your gross monthly pay by the working days per month times the hours per day, and the daily rate divides it by the working days alone. Change the days and hours fields and every conversion updates, so you can model a part-time or overtime schedule.

Is my salary information uploaded?+

No. The entire calculation runs locally in your browser and no network request is involved, so your pay figures are never transmitted, logged, or stored. The tool also needs no account, so nothing about you is tied to the result.
